Approved Ports of Entry

Japan-exported vehicles enter the U.A.E. through Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah. All ports follow structured customs guidelines, and clients may select the most convenient destination based on proximity and cost.

Age Regulation on Imported Cars

A vehicle must hold a manufacturing date within the last four years to qualify for registration in the U.A.E. Clients must verify the date via the auction or supplier documents before selection.

Drive-Side Requirements

The U.A.E. permits registration only for left-hand drive vehicles. Right-hand drive vehicles may enter the country. However, such vehicles remain outside registration eligibility, which means they cannot obtain local plates or legal road access.

Documents Required for Entry and Registration

• Original Bill of Lading, showing make, model, chassis number, engine number, color, and type
• Export Certificate from Japan’s Traffic Department
• Invoice (Commercial, Purchase, or Proforma)
• Copy of Passport
• U.A.E. Residence Visa or endorsed permit page
• Authority Letter issued upon arrival in Dubai
• Title Name must reflect the visa holder’s identity
• Vehicle Condition Report from the loading port
• Certificate of Origin
• Insurance Certificate valid under local conditions

Steps to Register the Vehicle in the U.A.E.

After customs clearance and duty payment, clients must present their Vehicle Clearance Certificate (V.C.C.) to the Dubai Police – Traffic Department. Plates and documentation are issued based on compliance. An importer must hold a valid U.A.E. driver’s license and residence visa.
